5. Can I become a member if I am not in the hi-tech field?
Yes. For financial, legal and consulting professionals, they are inseparably associated with hi-tech, therefore, they are a natural part of our association. Even you work in the traditional technology fields, if you are interested in learning about what’s happening in the hi-tech fields, you can also become a member.

6. What do you mean by Special Interest Group (SIGs) and why they are important?
As our members have a diverse background and interests, only a few activities may not be able to satisfy everyone’s requirements. A SIG is group organized around a special interest, either professional, financial or social, such as a bio-technical group, a stock investment group, or a single’s group. A SIG can have its own sub-organizational structure and group leaders, hold its own events and meetings. SIG would give our members maximum room for creativity and contribution to the association. Only when we have many different SIGs built on NWCHP’s platform, can we truly fulfill our missions. All SIG’s activities should be posted on our website so that other members would be able to see what’s happening in other parts of our association.

7. What is an Advisory Board and why do we need such a Board?
Our Advisory Board members consist of people with high social and professional achievements. By inviting them to our Board, we have not only gained the recognition from these people, but also gained the resources associated with them. More importantly, they can provide our association with valuable advices and directions. They are also a good source for seminar speaker candidates.

8. How is Board of Directors created?
The first board is created via voting among our founding members. Founding members are defined as those people who actively participated in the initial activities during the inception period. The first board will serve a period of 6 months only, followed by a new election based on a larger membership base.

9. Can I become a board member or officer?
There are a number of criteria to be satisfied before one can become a board member or officer. A board member/officer should first of all be willing to devote substantial of his/her time to the activities of the organization. Secondly, a board member/officer should be able to bring to the organization with valuable resources and operational experiences. Actually, a board member is NOT decided by the board itself. Other officers may be appointed by the president via consultation with other vice presidents.
